Supporting Community Events
There’s always something happening in our vibrant downtown, and Calvary is glad to be part of it! From joining community festivals, to handing out cold water on hot summer days, to opening our doors as a place to rest and refresh—we love sharing God’s welcome with our neighbors.
If you’d like to volunteer at an upcoming downtown event, please reach out to Mother Amy at curate@cecbastrop.org or Kate Hurst at senior.warden@cecbastrop.org.

Every year, Calvary provides water and restrooms for the crowd that gathers downtown for the annual Christmas parade. Parishioners help decorate and ride Calvary’s float while others keep the Parish Hall open for visitors.
Following the parade every one is invited to gather with friends and family to sip hot cocoa, sing your favorite carols, and celebrate the season in community. A night filled with music, warmth, and holiday spirit—perfect for all ages.
2027 Events
Mardi Gras, Tuesday, February 9, 2027
Calvary participates in the downtown Mardi Gras festivities most years and always parades the streets from the Parish Hall on the actual day of Mardi Gras.
Pride Fest
Calvary regularly supports Pride Fest in downtown Bastrop by offering cold water, restrooms, and a warm welcome to our LGBTQ+ community and their friends and family members. We also provide support to Bastrop Pride by providing space in our Parish Hall for them to meet each month.
Juneteenth Celebration
Calvary opens its doors to the community when Bastrop celebrates Juneteenth downtown. The hot summer days and nights mean the cool water and Parish Hall are a welcome retreat during festivities.
Bastrop Homecoming Parade
The first weekend in August, we celebrate Homecoming. During World War II, business boomed in Bastrop with an influx of military men to Camp Swift. After the war ended, business lessened. In an attempt to give the city a boost, town leaders created the first Homecoming Jubilee for current and former area residents who spent time there during the war, to “come home” for the festivities.
