Serving
One of the keys to children growing in their faith and making it their own is serving in the church and community. Serving connects us to the very heart of God, helps us discover God in other people and gives us meaning, joy & purpose.
Why wouldn’t we want our kids to experience that?
Acolyte corps
Acolytes are young people who serve in key roles during the worship service. Acolytes lead the procession into the church, lead the Gospel procession with torches, receive the elements, ring the sanctus bells during the Eucharist and assist the clergy throughout the service.
Acolytes receive training and attend special Acolyte gatherings throughout the year.
Student Readers
We want children and youth to know they have a place at Calvary. One way to do that is to make sure that children and youth lead the readings and prayers during worship services. We offer periodic training to help everyone learn the ropes.
Choir & Ensemble
Do you love to sing? Our choir and ensemble would love for you to join us as we make a joyful noise to the Lord! Led by Dr. Justin West, our choir rehearses every Wednesday at 7 PM and 1st & 3rd Sundays at 9:15 AM.
We welcome involvement from children and youth in our Sunday Worship services and also in other ministries that take place throughout the year. For example, middle and high school aged students can join the puppeteers for productions during VBC and at other celebrations.
We also need greeters, folks to ring the church bells, and tech-savvy teens to help with our LiveStream activities. From time-to-time we can use help with special projects such as helping with the Christmas Parade float, donating books to our Little Library, working in the garden, setting up for special events like the Easter Egg Hunt, and our annual Church Picnic.
If you are interested in learning about all the opportunities for young people to serve at Calvary, please reach out to Mother Amy or any of the Vestry members.
Getting involved with church service is a great way to make friends and connect to a wonderful community.
