Children
At Calvary, we have developed a birth-to-graduation strategy to help children discover God’s love and who God has created them to be. Under the loving care and guidance of well-trained teachers passionate about kids, children learn to enter our sacred stories, become story makers and finally make the story of faith their own. Of course, there is plenty of time to just hang out, make friends and create a lifetime of memories. We also find that children tend to make their faith their own by serving within the church and community in age-appropriate ways. Explore how children & youth serve at Calvary here.
Nursery
The most important thing for a young child is to experience God’s love and care. Our nursery is a place for children to learn to play, make friends, hear the audio from our worship services and have a snack. Parents of kids this age – we know how hard you’re working and we want to give you a moment to care for your soul because we know that will make you a more grounded parent.
The nursery is located in the Calvary Episcopal School building on the south side of the sanctuary.
Godly Play
Godly Play helps children make meaning at any age through story, wonder & play. Each week, children gather in a circle in the Godly Play room and hear Ms. Kathy tell a sacred story. The best part is when Ms. Kathy asks wondering questions and kids have a chance to respond – you never know what insights and wisdom (and sometimes really funny!) things they will share.
The Godly Play Room is located in the Parish Hall.
StoryMakers
After children have learned to enter God’s story through wondering, they are then ready to become StoryMakers. This class uses zines (short for magazine) for each season that draws students into the story with activities, plays & conversation. StoryMakers is led by Mrs. Carrie.
StoryMakers is located in the StoryMakers Room in the Parish Hall.

Camp Allen
In the Diocese of Texas, we are fortunate to have Camp Allen located just 90 minutes away. Home to the largest Episcopal summer camp program in the nation, over 2,000 campers from across the southwest come to Camp Allen every summer. Children ages 8-16 can attend camp for a week and those who are older can serve as camp counselors. Scholarships are available from the church and the diocese to make sure every child can have this special experience. Check out Camp Allen’s website for more information.
Safeguarding God's Children
The final promise of our Baptismal Covenant urges us to “strive for justice and peace among all people, and to respect the dignity of every human being.” In the Episcopal Diocese of Texas, we live into that promise by creating environments in our congregations, schools, and institutions that are free of all types of abuse, exploitation, and harassment. Toward that end, all staff and other adults who work with children and youth are required to complete an abuse prevention training program designed for the Episcopal Church called Safeguarding God’s Children, complete a background check, provide references, and be recertified every three years.
