Calvary Episcopal School provides an excellent academic and spiritual environment that builds minds and faith of children ages three years through sixth grade. It’s mission is to foster the development of the whole child in a Christian environment, model respect for others and encourage a love of learning through a sense of joy and wonder in all of God’s works. Calvary Episcopal School is a fully accredited member of the Southwestern Association of Episcopal Schools with degreed and caring teachers. A gift to Calvary Episcopal School provides an opportunity to assist families in the community who may be unable to pay full tuition but who desire a faith–based, loving, community-centered education for their children.
The Children’s Advocacy Center
The Children’s Advocacy Center provides intervention and therapeutic services to child victims of physical and sexual abuse as well as to their protective family members. The Center provides a “safe” zone for purposes of evaluation, evidence gathering, counseling and advocacy, and all services are conducted within a supportive and nurturing environment. All referrals to the Center come directly from Child Protective Services or local law enforcement and all services are provided free of charge to the child victims, their protective family members, the supporting partner agencies and the Bastrop area community.
Clergy Discretionary Fund (Formerly the Rector’s Discretionary Fund)
The Clergy’s Discretionary Fund is used to provide emergency aid to pay essential bills, like rent, utilities and prescriptions, for both parishioners and for members of the greater community who are seeking assistance.
Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA)
Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Bastrop County strives to make a difference in abused and neglected children’s lives by providing a CASA trained volunteer who represents them in Court and fights for their best interest.
Dreamtime Animal Sanctuary
Dreamtime Animal Sanctuary is a 501©(3) farm animal sanctuary which offers life-time sanctuary to the animals who come here. The sanctuary exists as a healing place in the midst of the chaos of our world. In this environment we begin to listen to one another from our hearts. The animals themselves are the healers; healing themselves, they heal others.
Episcopal Relief and Development
Episcopal Relief and Development responds to human suffering at home and around the world. This organization provides emergency assistance after disasters, rebuilds communities, and helps children and families climb out of poverty. Hearing God’s call to seek and serve Christ in all persons and to respect the dignity of every human being, Episcopal Relief and Development serves to bring together the generosity of the Episcopalians and others with the needs of the world. For more than seventy years, Episcopal Relief and Development has served the needs of the poor and oppressed as well as victims of natural disasters by providing emergency relief work and long-term development and rehabilitation programs. We were established by the Episcopal Church in 1950 in order to assist refugees fleeing Europe during World War II, but today, our programs have grown to serve families and communities throughout the world.
Family Crisis Center
The mission of the Bastrop Family Crisis Center is to be the expert resource and service provider in eliminating domestic and sexual violence in Bastrop, Colorado, Fayette and Lee Counties. It is our belief that healthy relationships are based on respect, trust, support, honesty and accountability. These relationships enforce our inherent equality as people and empower us to make nonviolent choices.
In addition to providing a safe haven for victims of violence we offer information and referral programs, violence prevention programs and emergency intervention in partnership with local community programs and law enforcement. We also staff a 24-hr Crisis Hot Line and operate a thrift center, Bits and Pieces, in the Bastrop community. Financial donations as well as volunteer opportunities are critical to our ability to support those who need our programs in the community.
Food Pantry
The mission of the Bastrop County Emergency Food Pantry and Support Services Center is to serve all people of Bastrop County with hunger-related needs and support services. These services may include providing emergency food, information, referral counseling and support services for families, the elderly and those who may be mentally or physically challenged.
Programs supported by the Food Pantry include Emergency Client Services for families who face an emergency situation with a critical food shortage, the Brown Bag Program for low-income individuals over 60 yrs of age, and the Open Arms Program for low-income individuals under 60 yrs of age who may be physically or mentally challenged. Programs that strengthen the lives of others in the community are the Fresh Food for Families Program; various educational workshops, program and Stronger Families Today, an activity that provides case management, credit counseling and the budgeting education and information. In addition, The Food Pantry supports Holiday meals and the “Adopt-a-Family” programs within the community.
Open Door Ministry
The Open Door Ministry was opened in Bastrop by the evangelist Roland Nava. It is a 501C(3) non-profit organization dedicated to helping the hungry, the homeless and the addicted. It provides food at Breakfast 9-10:30 am and Lunch 12:00-2:00 PM, Monday to Saturday. There is a pick-up service at three sites in Bastrop. In addition to food and fellowship, spiritual guidance, social services and health screening is offered. Calvary Episcopal church provides food and volunteers each Monday.
